Charles is a director in the Conveyancing, and Insurance and Legal Liability Departments of the firm.

He joined Honey Attorneys (Cape Town), now BDP Attorneys, in December 2001, as a candidate attorney in the Civil Litigation Department. In February 2004, Charles was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He was also admitted as a notary public in September of that year, and as a conveyancer in October, and the opportunity then arose for him to branch out into property law and conveyancing. Charles became a director of the firm in 2006, and his practice then mainly focused on assisting and advising developers of residential and commercial properties in all phases of a development. This involved negotiations, drafting of agreements, liaising with the relevant local authorities, banks and purchasers, as well as the registration of all the transfers and mortgage bonds.

In 2009, whilst completing the Qualified Lawyer Transfer Tests (QLTT) to gain admission as a Solicitor of England and Wales, Charles was presented with an opportunity to further his studies in Australia and gain international legal experience. It was decided that he would leave the firm with the intention to return at some stage. In 2010, he was admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales. In 2012, he completed the required undergraduate subjects to have his law degree recognised in Australia, through the Queensland University of Technology. He also obtained a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the same university, which made him eligible to gain admission as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Queensland, Australia. He was duly admitted as such. While in Australia working for a leading insurance company, Charles gained exposure to personal injury law and claims, and developed a passion for this sphere of the law.

Charles re-joined the firm in November 2013 as a director. Charles prides himself on personal service and finding solutions that are not only legally good, but economical as well.
